Hypnosis for anxiety

A sudden feeling of anxiety can make everyday life very difficult.

With hypnosis, we can calm the body’s reactions and restore a sense of ease.

Many people notice a clear change already after the first session.

“…as I said, I’ve had anxiety my whole life, and I expected that it was just how things were… I’m finishing the process without any anxiety at all – it’s incredible.”

What is anxiety?

Anxiety is a natural reaction. It is the body’s alarm system that is activated when we experience danger or feel under pressure.

But for some, the alarm system is triggered far too often, or it doesn’t switch off again.

In hypnosis, we help the body release the alarm response, so calm can return.

When the body no longer reacts in the same way, many experience that both the anxiety and the fear of anxiety become much less intense, or disappear completely.

Common symptoms of anxiety

Anxiety can show up in many ways – both physically and mentally.

For many, it can feel as if the body is in a constant state of alarm.

Many experience a combination of symptoms that can vary in intensity from day to day.

Common signs of anxiety may include:

  • Heart palpitations or pressure in the chest
  • Restlessness or a sense of inner unease
  • Racing thoughts and worries that don’t stop
  • Dizziness or shortness of breath
  • Tension in the neck, shoulders or stomach
  • Sleep problems or difficulty relaxing
  • A constant feeling of being on high alert
  • Avoidance of certain situations

You can’t think your way out of anxiety

Many people experience that anxiety seems to come out of nowhere. Nothing dangerous is happening, and yet the body reacts.

Anxiety is often linked to past experiences or strains that the body is still responding to.

This can mean that when a new situation reminds the body of something from the past, the alarm is triggered again.

The worry about when anxiety will come next can also take up a lot of space.

Many avoid certain situations and try to control the symptoms.

And it doesn’t help to just think positively.

In hypnosis, we help the body release the alarm response so that calm can return.

When the body no longer reacts in the same way, many experience that both the anxiety and the fear of anxiety take up much less space, or disappear completely.

A safe and calm process

I set aside 90 minutes for a session, so there is plenty of time. You should set aside up to 2 hours, in case we run a little over.

The first session begins with a thorough interview, where we talk about your situation and how anxiety affects you.

The hypnosis itself is a collaboration between you and me. During hypnosis, you will be in a very relaxed state. You remain awake, aware, and in full control at all times.

If your anxiety is connected to a very intense experience that you would like to process, but find difficult to talk about, I don’t need any details.

Many people experience it as a great relief that they don’t have to put very difficult experiences into words in order to get help

How many sessions do I need?

It is very individual how many sessions are needed.

Many are surprised by how quickly change can happen. Even when anxiety has been present for many years, it doesn’t necessarily mean a long process.

Some experience a clear difference already after the first session, while others need a few more sessions to create a stable and lasting change.

The most important thing is that you are motivated and open to the idea that change can happen quickly.
